Following an exhaustive and thorough search, Mercy College Director of Athletics Pat Kennedy appointed Jack A. Zolla to serve as the athletics department's Director of Sports Information in August 2011. Zolla's primary focus will be the promotion and marketing of the Mavericks' 10 NCAA Division II nationally-competitive teams. He also will be responsible for handling and overseeing all public and media relations pertaining to the athletics department, maintaining the athletics website and recording official NCAA statistics.

"Jack's prior experience coupled with his youthful energy and boundless excitement for the industry made him an easy hire," Kennedy said about Zolla.

Before joining Mercy, Zolla served as the Director of Sports Information & Media Relations at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. In addition to promoting and marketing the Academy's 24 NCAA Division III teams, Zolla completed a re-design of the athletics website, instituted the department's official Twitter account and served as the liasion between the Mariners' teams and outside media outlets.

Zolla is no stranger to the East Coast Conference as he worked as the Sports Information Assistant at Molloy College prior to USMMA. While working for the Lions, Zolla was the primary media relations contact for women's soccer, women's cross country and men's basketball. He was responsible for issuing the teams' press releases, writing game recaps, and utilizing the Stat Crew software to keep track of NCAA Division II statistics.

Zolla's previous experience also includes writing for NYSportsDay.com as the New York Knicks' beat reporter. He has also interned with Major League Baseball, SportsNet New York, and The Journal News of Westchester County.

Zolla graduated from Fordham University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. In addition, he served as the sports editor of Fordham's newspaper, The Ram, and was also a member of the Novice Men's Crew team.

He went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Columbia University in 2012. Zolla also serves as Editor of Columbia's Sports Jobs Newsletter.

Zolla is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A native of Whitestone, N.Y., Zolla currently resides in Woodbury, N.Y. and is engaged to Kelly Luken, a high school history teacher on Long Island.
