Hugh Riley was announced as the Assistant Athletic Trainer on September 14, 2017.
Riley joins the Mercy family after serving as an intern in the Georgia Southwestern State University athletic training department for two years. While at Georgia Southwestern, Riley performed athletic training duties with the head athletic trainer, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of their men’s soccer, softball, men and women’s tennis, and women’s basketball teams.
Prior to his time at Georgia Southwestern, Riley was an athletic training student at his alma mater William Paterson University from 2012-15. Riley performed athletic training duties alongside the athletic trainer being responsible for the football, men’s soccer, women’s basketball, softball and field hockey teams at William Paterson.
Riley also worked as an athletic training student at Fort Lee High School in 2014 where he was responsible for the boy’s and girl’s basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, cross country, track and field, football, boy’s and girl’s soccer and volleyball teams.
Riley graduated from William Paterson in 2015 with Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Health Studies. He then went on to earn a Master of Science in Exercise Science & Health Promotion with a concentration in Rehabilitation Sciences in 2017 at California University of Pennsylvania.
