Chris Schoen joins the Mercy College baseball coaching staff ahead of the 2015 season.
Schoen brings a diverse background to the staff, having coached baseball for the last 25 years after a successful playing career.
The Hopewell Junction resident played collegiately at College of Misericordia where he suited up at first base, in the outfield and pitched from 1984-88. He was a four-year All-League selection and two-year All-Section recipient. Schoen was co-captain for three years and led Misericordia to its first District title in 1988.
Schoen got his coaching start in 1989 at his alma mater, College of Misericordia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Management. Schoen served as a volunteer assistant coach there before returning home and acting as the assistant JV coach at Roy C. Ketcham High School from 1990-92.
Following his stint at Ketcham, Schoen became a head coach at all levels for children 9-18 years old in the Town of Wappingers starting in 1993 and would continue for 17 years before joining the Hit and Run Highlanders in 2010 as the head coach of the 16-under and 12-under teams and as organization director.
Schoen has coached teams to 16 league titles, 22 tournaments and two national championships.
Schoen is the former Director of Operations for Hit and Run Baseball and Hit and Run Highlanders Travel Organization, a position he held from 2010-17, and served as the president of the town of Wappingers little league from 2010-15.
