Abby Zielinski will be going into her second season as an assistant for the women’s soccer program.

Zielinski’s on-field duties include helping work with the goalkeepers and back four. Off the field she helps mentor the new student-athletes in the program and oversees much of the administrative work and day-to-day operations. She is also in charge of all the prospect ID clinics.

Zielinski, a 2015 graduate of Mercy College, brings an impressive resume to the coaching staff, having been named an All-American in both seasons she played for the Mavericks. The native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania transferred in from Division I George Mason University, where she started all 26 games and following a redshirt season in 2012 became a force at midfield for coach Feinstein.

In 2013, Zielinski was named a Third Team Daktronics All-American and received First Team Daktronics All-District and All-ECC honors in 18 games. Zielinski capped off her impressive career as a Maverick in 2014 as she was part of a Mercy squad that made it to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year, advancing to the East Region final for the first time as a program.

Zielinski ended the season and her career being named an NSCAA Third Team All-American and was a First Team NSCAA All-East Region selection and First Team All-ECC recipient. Zielinski finished her Maverick career with one goal and four assists and led the team in minutes played in 2013.

Zielinski graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and currently lives in Hastings.
