Inaugural Mercy College Blue White Fund Golf Classic a Success
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation recently hosted its inaugural Blue White Fund Golf Classic on Thursday, June 21, at The Canyon Club in Armonk, NY. The event was held in support of the College's 15 men's and women's NCAA Division II athletics programs.
The Blue White Fund Golf Classic was a success with a field of 50 golfers participating on the challenging and well prepared course. There were also 40 corporate and individual sponsors that contributed to the benefit event, while current student-athletes, alumni, staff and family members served as volunteers. The evening closed with a dinner, awards program, auction and super raffle on the scenic veranda at The Canyon Club.
"It was a wonderful day for Mercy College athletics and all those involved with today's event," said Dr. Kevin T. McGinniss, Mercy College's director of athletics. "Martin Badinelli and his entire staff at The Canyon Club were outstanding hosts, it was a perfect day, and I thank all those who participated and offered their generous support."
The big winner on the day was the foursome of Ted Huffman, Nancy Huffman, Chuck Slattery, and Chris Puzzuoli, which took home first place in the best ball scramble, firing a team score of 10-under par, 60. The foursome of Ian Gillule, Pete Sullivan, Rich Volpe, and Mercy Head Baseball Coach Bill Sullivan came in at seven-under par, 63, to finish second. Brian Valente, Brian Teter, Sean Burke, and Frank DeFrancesco captured third place at six-under par, 64.
Next year's Second Annual Mercy College Blue White Fund Golf Classic will be scheduled at date to be announced.
