Mercy College SAAC Holiday Drive Brings in Over 100 Donated Items for Toys for Tots
DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) collected over 100 donated items to contribute to the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, in conjunction with Mercy's Department of Student Affairs.
Donations of toys and other gifts for children were made by Mercy's student-athletes, staff, and other members of the College community. They included items such as educational games, sports apparel and equipment, stuffed animals, action figures, dolls, and toy cars.
"We are very fortunate to have a core group of student leaders who understand what philosopher Lao-Tse once shared: Kindness in words creates confidence; kindness in thinking creates profundity; and kindness in giving creates love," said Dr. Darryl Bullock, SAAC Co-Advisor.
The Toys for Tots programs distribute donated toys as Christmas gifts to needy and underprivileged children in the communities where units are located. Over the 59 years of the Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 370 million toys to more than 173 million needy children.
